Date: June 2004 Source: Scottish Technology News LocSoft relocates to East KilbrideLocsoft, a leading embedded and Real Time solutions provider, plans to expand its range of services into new markets north of the border including the SME sector. Established in 1998 to deliver ‘long life’ solutions to the industrial automation embedded OEM marketplace, LocSoft Group’s current customer base includes BAE Systems, Raytheon and IBM. It also handles the contract to maintain the radar computers for the National Air Traffic Services at Swanick. Managing Director Michelle Opit said: “There were a number of reasons why we decided to move to Scotland the biggest one being we felt it strategically important for us to be close to the National Air Traffic Centre being planned for Prestwick.“Secondly it is less expensive to run a business in Scotland and there is a great pool of technology talent here.” Opit is currently hoping to recruit engineers and sales people, doubling LocSoft’s workforce in Scotland from six to 12 over the next year. LocSoft’s software development business includes application and product development, covering a wide range of Real Time and embedded technology. It also specialises in legacy migration particularly from Multibus I and Multibus II hardware and iRMX based software. The company’s hardware design and consultancy service includes anything from initial development to full design and manufacture. It has designed products as diverse as Intel motherboards and Multibus embedded processors, through to custom telecommunications solutions. Other services offered by LocSoft Engineering include customised BIOS design LocSoft is the European Technology Centre for General Software’s BIOS and Real Time TCP/IP and cross-platform SMB implementation. Additionally, LocSoft is the European technology centre and distributor for ARCO’s DupliDisk 3 range of IDE RAID data protection solutions. Opit added: “DupliDisk3 offers a unique solution to hard drive protection which eliminates the need for clumsy external device drivers and ensures that in the event of a hard crash your system keeps operating smoothly with no data loss, no down time and no expensive restoration programmes.“We are very excited by the addition of DupliDisk3’s unique technology to our portfolio as its affordability and reliability make it available to a much wider audience than many of our more specialised products. ”LocSoft Group, which also has an office in England, has a turnover of over £1.25m and has strategic partners in France, Israel and the US. |
